William & Clara @ Raffles Hotel
Dawn on vocals
Mark on keyboards
Gavin on saxophone
It is always a pleasure to be able to fulfill special requests as Yours Truly did for William & Clara.
In addition to a very charming old school repertoire that included popular jazz classics like Dream a Little Dream, Fly Me to the Moon, and Quando Quando, our musicians also accompanied the groom William on his second march-in song, Everything by Michael Buble.
The groom serenaded his bride as they walked down the aisle, and as he sang the last line on stage, soulfully gazed into his lovely wife's eyes to cheers and applause from their guests.
To top off the night, one of the Bride's colleagues also sang LOVE accompanied by Mark & Gavin as a special dedication and gift to the newly weds.
Thank you William & Clara for letting us share your joy on your special day!
Thanks to JoHo for the shots!

Walk With You Showcase @ Bangkok Jazz, Kuala Lumpur
DiGi Presents: Walk With You featuring Tay Kewei and Dennis Lau
27 & 28 Jun, Fri & Sat
10pm onwards
Bangkok Jazz, Chulan Square
Kuala Lumpur
For two nights, Jun 27 and 28,
two dynamic musicians,
Singaporean songbird Tay Kewei and
Malaysian violin sensation Dennis Lau,
will serenade and thrill the crowd at an exclusive event
brought to you by DiGi and Bangkok Jazz.
Solo violinist Dennis has shared stage with Taiwan popstar David Tao as well and some of Malaysia's most popular artists. In 2007, he teamed up with James Boyle and The Ragged Tigers for the Penang Island Jazz Festival as well as the Genting International Jazz Festival. Last year, Dennis and The Ragged Tigers also represented the country at the Cultural Jazz Festival in Korea.
Both artistes are in the midst of recording their individual albums and would be giving the crowd a chance for a sneak peek to some of their originally composed tracks.
For a night of top notch performances and smooth rhythms, the duo will be backed by a group of talented musicians:
Wilson Jong on piano
Eric Kok on guitar
Ken Chung on bass
Sudin on drums.
It was a fantabulous 2 nights for the both of us - Dennis and myself.
We traced our musical journey, playing songs that had influenced us...
... showcasing songs we composed ourselves...
... in a cosy setting that is Bangkok Jazz @ Chulan Square, opposite the Pavilion.
I played the erhu as well -
our debut performance of Ken Chung's original composition - Son of a Chinese.
Maestro Ken Chung on bass
with the band! - Eric, Ken, Sudin, Wilson.

Jimmy & Gelin @ Grand Copthorne Waterfront
It's not often that we get requests for 6 piece bands, but we always love it when we do!
For Jimmy & Gelin, Yours Truly put together a very special combination comprising Dawn Wong & William Tanoto on Vocals, Ein Ein on the Keyboard, Daniel Purnomo on the Guitar, Jonathan Lim on the Saxophone, and Nic Osman on Percussion.
This lively combination was pure fun not only for the audience who enthusiastically submitted countless song requests and dedications to the couple, but also for the band who got to flex our creativity in delivering everybody's favourite numbers.
In addition to traditional crowd pleasers like Wonderful Tonight, 我只在乎你, and 爱很简单, we also put a twist on must-have titles with duet renditions of 月亮代表我的心 and What a Wonderful World. Dawn also performed Loving You as a special request from the Groom to the Bride to round off the perfect evening.
What's left now are just wonderful pictures to share our feelings!
Congratulations to Jimmy & Gelin, and may you have countless happy years ahead!

Meijun & Jon's Wedding @ Shangri La Hotel Island Ballroom
Kewei on vox
Jon Ang on piano
Daryl on violin
Meijun and Jon's march in was led by their best friends,
the bridesmaids and best men, who appeared couple by couple,
to the classic instrumental piece - Canon in D :)
The ballroom, grand and spacious,
was filled with the elegant sounds of our violin, grand piano and vocal trio :)
It was also good to work with Maria from Wedding Acts for the first time,
who made sure the wedding was perfect :)

David & Sherine's Wedding @ Four Seasons Hotel
David and Sherine had a most happening dinner,
the brothers had already broken out full swing into karaoke mode
for my very 1st song of the night - Can't Take Me Eyes Off You!
David also reminded us,
"Have fun! You're not here to work tonight, alright? Enjoy yourselves!
Help yourselves to the strawberries!"
We already did.
For the cocktail reception, they specially arranged for a platform made entirely out of ice -
to contain nothing but a huge mountain of strawberries!
A simple but beautiful idea :)
Throughout the dinner, I'm sure the guests could hardly hear us.
Friends and colleagues broke out into YUUUUUMMMM SEEEEEENNNNNGGGGGs every 10 minutes or so, it was a huge party!
3 or 4 tables of guests would gather around one table and YUUUMMM SEEENNNNGG endlessly,
by the time we were ready to leave... David was no longer to be found.
In fact he was so knocked out he had to be sent up to his room. LOL
We had great fun!

Xiumin & Hongwei's Wedding @ Intercontinental Hotel
matching heights!
it's funny how this looks just like a girls VS guys pic! :p
Xiumin and Hongwei were Ein's ex-hallmates,
so this wedding was particularly dear to us :)
Hongwei was absolutely dashing in his princely tailcoat,
and Xiumin looked smashing in her high-collared gown :)
There is a very important tip to share courtesy of Hongwei's EXCELLENT speech.
The importance of LIVE MUSIC.
Hongwei had specially planned to sing for his wife,
and made doubly sure that the keyboards were to start on cue to his speech.
After thanking his parents, his friends,
as he went on to his public declaration of love and gratitude for Xiumin,
the keys started tinkling,
and instantly TRANSFORMED the ballroom into a jap-drama setting,
complete with emo soundtrack that multiplied the effect of his speech by x100.
Xiumin started crying, I STARTED CRYING,
and Ein was staring at me like I was crazy,
while nonchalantly drowning everyone in the waves of emotions
through the notes she played.
When Hongwei started singing Simple as Sunrise,
you could hear him choke a little,
overwhelmed with emotion,
but he carried on singing.
Plan your speech this way!
We'd gladly help :)
Ein on keys
Kangyang on guitar
Some classic ballads we learnt for this wedding :)

Cheers, to a beautiful life ahead of you!

Lufthansa Airlines Event @ Singapore Flyer
This gala event marked the inaugural direct flight from Singapore to Munich on Lufthansa Airlines, Europe's 2nd biggest airline.
In line with the flying theme,
it was held at the Singapore Flyer :)
we opened with songs like Come Fly With me, Fly Me To The Moon,
Leaving on a Jetplane... you get the picture :p
with Nic Osman, Daniel Purnomo and Jonathan Ang
and Dennis Lau once again!
our erhu-violin duet is a force to be reckoned with ;P
in theme with FLYING,
the opening act involved a mindblowing aerial ballerina stunt by 2 LA imports from ex Cirque du Soleil :)
Two bartenders were also specially flown in from Schumann's bar in Munich to prepare cocktails for the guests :)
and off we went!

Chee Kiat & Michelle's Wedding @ Chijmes Church
Hey Kewei, just want to thank you, Ein Ein and Daniel for a wonderful performance on our wedding. We also received great feedback from our guests who really enjoyed your songs. Those are our favourite songs too and we'll certainly remember the evening always! Cheers!
frrom CK and Michelle
This was the first time I performed at Chijmes Church,
it was rather interesting for me to see a dinner being held in a church setting :)
It was beautiful and despite the slight echo, the music rang loud and clear.
When I specially tried singing the specially requested duet Ti Amo
as a solo song,
CK and Michelle turned and applauded, which was absolutely sweet :)
It's a beautiful song :)
And... CK had prepared a gift for Michelle.
after the 2nd march-in, she had to unwrap the present onstage :)
He said... it took him years to prepare...
It was an album filled with all the movie tickets
they had watched for the past 7 years they dated.
*swoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon*
i was so touched, and especially more so seeing the look of love on Michelle's face as they settled back at their table, that I honestly couldn't sing properly.
and i also thought about all the movie tickets i watched on dates which were never properly archived, and silently lamented how this sweet little anecdote would never ever happen to me -_-"
We also met JP Mr Soon Min Yam, Director of NTU Alumni Affairs Office,
whom we met when Ein Ein and I (both NTU alumni) performed for past NTU events :)
If you're NTU alumni, it would be meaningful to invite Mr Soon to solemnise your wedding!
with Ein Ein on keys
Daniel Purnomo on guitar
This awesome series of photos are courtesy of Kelvin from Avenue8 Photography,
who also shot for Randall Tan and Melody Chen's wedding :)
thank you Kelvin for specially recommending Yours Truly on his blog!
it's my pleasure guys. certainly had a great time through out the whole night with kewei's angelic voice echoing off the walls of CHIJMES Cathedral's beautiful structure.
Cheers!
Kevin
