We were honoured to be the band for Mr Koh's grand birthday celebration -
it even involved a huge stage backdrop of 80 different 寿 characters!
We played many Mandarin oldies, such as
春风吻上我的脸, 可爱的玫瑰花, 给我一个吻, 一人一半
and also English classics like
First of May from the Beegees, Top of the World from Carpenters, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton etc :)

Rongying & Jia Jia's Wedding @ Shore Restaurant, NSRCC
This wedding weekend was tiring, but lovely for me -
2 venues off the beaten track:
A small elegant affair,
Rongyong and Jia Jia's solemnisation was held next to an endless sea view...
accompanied by light wind chimes and twinkly lights,
at the Shore Restaurant at the National Service Resort and Country Club (NSRCC) Sea Sports Centre.
They also sang 今天你要嫁给我 along with the harpist :)
The sea breeze was languid but constant,
and the atmosphere was so romantic with the harp, sax and vocal trio
that I was almost afraid to sing out loud in fear of spoiling the tranquility.
I was terribly honoured to work with Reynaldo on the saxophone, who is 71 this year, and 12 times a great-grandfather!
And of course the beautiful Junedy on harp, once again :)
Just like out of a Korean movie, don't you think? :)

Daphne & Nathan's Wedding @ Flutes at the Fort
This goes down as one of the most special weddings in Yours Truly history,
because Dawn's sister was getting married. :)
Dawn is also one of the main singers from Yours Truly,
and it was the first time we were both singing at a wedding together!
with Ein Ein on keys,
Clarence on guitar
Flutes at the Fort is a perfect little hideaway in the middle of town,
with delicious food and excellent service.
the march in
and yes, the awesomest group shot
Dawn sings Jay Chou's 菊花台 while I play the erhu!
I sing for the rest of the night while she gets busy :)
everyone gets a go at it!
now I know where Dawn's singing genes come from...
Dawn and her girls rockin the house!
Photos from the very talented Jean Loo and Johnny Loo!
it was a beautiful beautiful night :)
and there is only one word for it -

Celeste & Benjamin's Wedding @ Hyatt Grand Ballroom
Celeste messaged me 2 weeks before her wedding:
Hi, my wedding singer backed out on me, may I know if you are available on 15 May to sing at my wedding?
In fact, the band (harp+vocals) was only confirmed 2 days before her wedding dinner,
but everything proceeded smoothly :)
She had helium-filled balloons around the stage,
whose satin strings added a lovely touch to the decor :)
This was also the 2nd time I saw concert-style confetti shooters onstage,
which exploded just as the champagne bottle was uncorked!
How's that for a celebration!

Sharon & Roy's Wedding @ Swissotel The Stamford
Dawn on Vox, Ein on Keys
The appreciative audience at Sharon & Roy’s wedding truly made the night special. Dedication slips that were passed around the tables were painstakingly decorated with angels and hearts, and well wishes flowed in all through the night (especially from a very enthusiastic Table 19 who very sportingly called themselves the table of Uncles and Aunties!).
We loved doing the song requests by the different tables, with the crowd particularly enjoying nostalgic numbers like “Sometimes When We Touch”, “但愿人长久”, and “Eternal Flame”. And because we wanted to include as many of the couple’s favourite songs, we also turned duets like “I Cross My Heart”, “今天你要嫁给我” and “梁山伯与茱丽叶” into solo songs.
What blew me away, however, was the groom’s touching rendition of David Tao’s “爱很简单” with Ein Ein providing keyboard accompaniment. Roy was really, really nervous but completely determined to pull it off because that is his new wife’s favourite song. I was moved to tears during the rehearsal that happened just before the guests were let in, and Sharon was the perfect picture of a blushing bride when Roy took to the mic in front of all their family and friends.
There’s nothing like a personal touch to make your big day even more memorable. For Sharon & Roy, I’m sure they will have this, and many more wonderful memories together.
Thanks for having us be part of your wedding!
xx.Dawn
