Thanita & Joseph's Wedding @ Four Seasons

This was one of the most emotional weddings i've been to!

It was the first time I saw a groom nearly cry!

It was all for good reason, Joseph's parents were both onstage giving their speech, and this very morning, Joseph and Thanita were married in the same church, on the same day, as were Joseph's parents 30 years ago!

Thanita was Thai, and Joseph was Filipino-Indian, I'm sure their babies would be gorgeous!

Thanita's father had a magical voice. I cannot describe it any better, but it sounded strangely captivating and simply commanded your attention when he sang.
No wonder, he used to sing at a jazz bar in Bangkok :)

He sang I Left My Heart In San Francisco, and we urged him to sing one more while we were rehearsing, and he did!

Onstage, he said, "Once I hold my mike, I just can't put it down!" and he continued with Fly Me To The Moon :)

As Thanita put it, as a young girl, she had always dreamed of her father singing at her wedding, and today her dream came true.

That to me, was absolutely perfect.

The second set of our performance almost ended up as a karaoke session, as many of their talented relatives took to the stage and sang classics like Born Free, My Way...

Luckily Ein Ein could respond quick and was always read to catch the correct keys of the songs as the requests for oldies came quick and strong!

We are blessed to have been part of this celebration, thanks to Martin & Joan who recommended us! :)

Awaiting pictures!

Ben & Cheryl's Wedding @ Mandarin Oriental

Photobucket
The band: Matthew on keys, Kexin on vox, Steven on Sax

Ben and Cheryl strode in the ballroom, military style!
Lined along their paths were sword-bearing military men decked in uniforms,
and the couple were made to go through a serious of "tasks" before they finish their march-in!
Boy is getting married tough, the obstacles don't seem to end!

But this could not compare to what Ben had gone through to get Cheryl!
I was sitting there watching a cartoon video of their love story and i have to say, I was impressed by Ben's perserverance!
They were classmates since they were 14 but they only got together 3 years ago. Their matrimony was never an easy journey;
first there was a failed first date, where Ben brought Cheryl to a jap restaurant when she's allergic to seafood;
then a failed first kiss, when he was rejected;
finally the failed proposal, where Ben was supposed to propose on a hot-air balloon but it rained!
No, Ben did not back down but went on his knees at wheelock place, where they had their first date.
What can i say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
Cheryl has found a determined man!

The couple also decided to sing At Your Side by The Corrs to thank their family and friends.
Ben played his guitar while Cheryl sang the song and of course,
Yourstruly was happy to have accompanied them in this sweet performance.

The night was filled with dedications from weddings anniversaries to birthdays :)
Check out Ben and Cheryl's very own trademarked logo on the dedication slips!

Thank you table 36 you made my day!!

Cyril & Madeleine @ Fullerton Hotel

Photobucket
Band: Ein on Keys, Kexin on Vox, Madeleine & Cyril! and Jon Lim on Sax

Cyril and Madeleine's wedding was definitely a first time fusion-fun for me!
Cyril is french while Madeleine's from singapore (evidently) and they fell in love while working abroad in the UK.
Not only did they have a wedding ceremony in Singapore,
they also had one amongst the romantic vineyards in France!

It's nice to see how both of them chose to return to their roots
while making compromises at the same time, from the choice of wedding ceremonies, right down to the choice of their songlist!

The songlist and requests this time were exceptionally interesting (:
Apart from the usual jazz standards, I was surprised to have received so many chinese dedications,
the repertoire included 海上花 - 罗大佑, 許美靜-城裡的月光 and many other old-time mandarin classics :)

Photobucket

YoursTruly was also glad to be tasked with creating the perfect atmosphere for many instances during the wedding dinner,
I sang I wanna grow old with you by Adam Sandler for their March-in song, Everything by Michael Buble for dish presentation, That's all by Michael Buble for their photo montage and lastly Let's fall in love by Diana Krall for the champagne pouring!

Thank you Mad & Cyril for making us part of ur big day! (:

Tze Min & Alice's Wedding @ Hotel Intercontinental

Hi Ginny,

Thanks so much for the band's wonderful performance on Sat! Our guests commented the music was very good! Apologies for not having much time to speak to Kewei/Alfred and the rest, as we were so busy that night...There's lots of dedications too. Thanks once again for the beautiful songs..

Alice and Tze Min

i always love this ballroom and their grand chandeliers!

Tze Min prepared a record-breaking 25 min long photo montage!
Surprisingly, it was not at all dreary, boring, draggy or whatever you might have imagined a 25 min long montage would be.

In fact I thought it was the sweetest, most thoughtful presentation any man could have done, he showed pictures of them both growing up,
and followed with a detailed story of how they met, how they got together, the first time they met each other's parents, how they dealt with distances when Tze Min had to work overseas, how he proposed...

For those who might not have known their love story well (and I'm sure that would include many friends and relatvies), I thought this was a great way of sharing their love story :)

In Tze Min's speech, he also thanked his parents and grandparents profusely for their love and upbringing, and thanked and named everyone who made the wedding possible, including the hotel staff, the bridal house, the photographers, and of course the live band :)

I'm happy and proud to be part of this wedding, it's my honour to sing for such a sweet, endearing couple on their big day!

Say Yong & Linda's Wedding at Shangrila Hotel

Photobucket
From Left to right: Jon Lim on Sax, Say Yong Linda, Kexin and Leon on Vox, and Euntaek on Keys.

Dear Kexin, Leon, Jon and Euntaek,

Many many thanks to the team for bringing your fantastic voices to the dinner. It is definately one of the highlights of the dinner. Everyone is still talking about you guys till today!

Thank you for being so accomodative to all our requests (especially last minute ones!) - very much appreciated. It has been such a great pleasure to work with the team as well as Kewei, right from coordination all the way to the actual day. Will carry this memory in many many years to come, from the fantastic march in songs, special requests to the super duper nice accomodative service of the team!

Been a great pleasure,
Say Yong & Linda

Photobucket
Linda and Say Yong is really the nicest couple i've met thus far!

They were so warm and friendly to the band,
even leon was touched by how sincere they were when we went to congratulate them on their marriage at the end of the performance.

The theme of the night was also the first i've seen - tiffany blue and white!
Photobucket

The ballroom was a combination of old-school glamour, and an added tinge of fun!
The dinner tables were also casted with dim blue romantic lightings, setting the mood just right for some quiet lovin' :)

We took a walk around before the wedding and also noticed many great weddings ideas!
Immediately beside the reception table was a rack of free take-home postcards...
Photobucket
and guess what, they were wedding photos of the couple!

Axioo was responsible for the lovely photos littered around the reception area.
I especially love that many of them are not the usual wedding photos we see around, but conceptual shots that oozes creativity and originality.

Check out their cute fun shots!

We noticed something special about the wedding gifts.
Every box seemed to be different but we haven't had the chance to ask the couple themselves.
If you're a guest of the wedding dinner, please leave a comment and tell me what it is!

Photobucket

Linda called me up the night before to discuss about their march-in songs.
She had wanted a more upbeat and fun number for their first march-in,
so we sang L.O.V.E!
The second march-in was something more sentimental and romantic - When I fall in Love.

Having sung 月亮代表我的心 in the morning of winning his well-guarded bride over from her sisters, Say Yong courageously sang the song again for his wife on stage!
Say Yong wasn't good in chinese but we give him 100marks for EFFORT! haha!

Tonight, we also had plenty of dedications :)
It's father's day tomorrow so the couple specially dedicated You Raised me up by Josh Groban for their fathers and all the other fathers in the house.
This time, we also received a dedication, Endless Love - Diana Ross & Lionel Richie,
from the PARENTS to the couple and their friends/relatives whose wedding anniversary happened to fall on the same day!

Leon and I sang many other duets, including the classic, Sally Yeh & George Lam's Xuan zhe, Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat's Lucky and Quando.

Thank you Say Yong and Linda for sharing with us such love and happiness from you guys!

Awaiting photos from Axioo :)

Vivian & Raymond's Wedding @ Sheraton Towers

Photobucket
Kewei and Leon on vox

Dearest Kewei

Apologies for the late message in conveying our heartfelt appreciation to you, Leon and your team for gracing the event on our wedding. Oops, come to think of it, it has been almost two months, really sorry for the delay hee :p

You guys were really great that nite! Though we didn’t really have much time to sit down and enjoy your performance, but from the praises and compliments from my guests, we knew that we have made the right decision for choosing Yours Truly :) Hope you & your team have enjoyed yourself too :)

Well, till then take care. Here wishing you & Yours Truly all the best… Keep in touch! :)

With our heartfelt appreciation
Vivian & Raymond

Hello everyone, it's Leon here and I had the honour of performing for Vivian & Raymond on their BIG DAY!

It was a match made in heaven for Vivian & Raymond!

They had one of the most beautiful themes in black and red and the bride was in a fabulously beautiful gown and the groom in a handsome suit.

Photobucket

Their 1st march in was welcomed by the band's performance of The Day I Fall In Love & a familiar romantic ballad of A Whole New World for the 2nd march in.

Photobucket

Photobucket

It became a very romantic and soothing night as beautiful pictures were also displayed as the band played tunes like "Way Back into Love" , "Quando Quando Quando" , "今天你要嫁给我" and many others... which the audiences enjoyed.

Photobucket

I wish them all the best, always loving and caring for one another =)

Photobucket

Did we mention that Vivian and her sisters were ALL GORGEOUS.....
Photobucket

PS: On this very day Vivian and Raymond, as well as Meiyin and Richard both engaged Yours Truly and Live Studios for their wedding celebrations!

We have always been in awe of the magic of Live Studios in captivating the guests of the wedding with live feed of their photos, it was awesome to work with them again!

Kexin on Vox

Richard and Mei Yin's wedding has got to be one of the most posh weddings I've ever had the honour to perform at.

The venue spoke of class and elegance, with chandelier-like flower displays scattered throughout the ballroom. It was also the very same ballroom where Mediacorp actress Michelle Chia held her televised wedding dinner very recently!

While the VIP table (where the parents are seated) are usually located right in front of stage, Richard and Mei Yin's VIP table was situated right in the middle of the ballroom, centre of attention indeed!
Even during the reception, we already noticed that almost all of the gentlemen were clad in black suit and tie, something not commonly seen at most weddings.
As if these were not enough to qualify it as the "breakthrough wedding of the year", every single guest had their meals served in an exquisite dish, ala carte style, instead of each table having to share one huge dish.
Now I was really impressed by the meal presentation for it not only gave the wedding dinner a touch of sincerity, but also made the guests feel a sense of importance.

the band in action

It was particularly touching when the couple went an extra mile to thank their parents and YoursTruly was happy to have been part of it.
We sang their parents' favourite song, 月亮代表我的心, promptly after they finished their thank-you speeches. In a well-timed fashion, they also proceeded to present specially-prepared gifts for their parents when the song ended.

YoursTruly was honoured to have been part of such a wonderful celebration of Love, joy and gratitude!

Thank you Richard and Mei Yin! :)

Also Special thanks to Zhing from Spellbound and her partner, both lovely wedding planners who were the nicest to the band. Applause to you ladies for making everything soo perfect!

Once again, photos above brought to you by Livestudios.

Tracy & Chin Hon's Wedding @ Fullerton

Photobucket
Dawn on vox,
James on keyboard,
Jonathan Lim on saxophone

I've just come home from Tracy and Chin Hon's wedding at the Fullerton and what a wonderful night it was! Tonight, James was on keys and Jon on sax.

So let's start with the cocktails. We did a half hour set as the guests came streaming in. Kim from the Wedding Conceirge made sure that everything ran at the right pace so that our band could ease everybody in with a good mix of instrumental and vocal pieces. Thanks Kim!

Then came the big entrance by Tracy and Chin Hon to a keyboard and trumpet accompaniment provided by their guests, channeling a gorgeous 50s vibe.
The keyboardist was the music director for New Creation Church for a number of years no less!
A number of special songs were also performed by the talented duo and even Tracy herself, putting her new grasp of mandarin to show with Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin. I was very impressed by her beijing accent ;)

Photobucket

More surprises lay in store as an Australian guest came up for an impromptu performance on stage.
Timothy, an accomplished saxophonist and one of Jon's teachers, charmed the whole room with his smooth vocals and sexy renditions of Day and Night, and Route 66.

Finally, our band surprised the couple's parents with 2 hokkien songs (ji ki shio hoh sua & ai pia jia eh yia) before rounding off the night with more smooth jazz.

Thanks Tracy & Chin Hon for a great party and our best to you both!

Khet & Shuhui's Wedding @ Novotel Clarke Quay

Photobucket
Kewei on vocals
James on keyboard
Jon Lim on saxophone

We had a set list prepared, but we had a record number of requests for this wedding!
Photobucket

All thanks to the lovely guests who made the celebration so much fun!
I had to categorise my song requests...
Photobucket

Khet also sang I Was Born To Love You for Shuhui,
and I personally feel that is a declaration that would move any lady to tears...!
Of course we did a sweet acoustic version of the song,
rather than the Queen version :p

And since Khet works at LucasFilm, he did a special wedding animation all by himself!
It was so much fun and definitely cute!
Photobucket

Photobucket

We had a great time! :)
Thanks Khet and Shuhui for having us!

David & Marissa's Wedding @ Raffles Hotel East India Room

Photobucket
Kewei on vox
James on keyboard
Edmund on saxophone

David and Marissa's wedding was a classy, intimate gathering of their close friends and family, and I always love the cosy atmosphere of East India Room.

Photobucket

We serenaded them with classics such as A Kiss To Build A Dream On, As Time Goes By, Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered... classic jazz standards :)

Photobucket
It was lovely to catch up with May and Meyer again!
And I specially sang A Love That Will Last for them, a special song for May, reliving their wedding 2 years ago!

Photobucket
Marissa's relatives also joined in the fun, serenading them for their first dance!

Thank you for letting us be part of your big day! :D
