Nanson and Jean's Wedding Lunch @ Regent Hotel Bar

I was particularly excited about this wedding lunch
because one of the pretty lady among the sisters crew was my secondary school classmate!
But of course, it was no coincidence that I saw her during the wedding,
she had called me up earlier to engage YoursTruly specially for her dear friend's big day (:

Photobucket

One thing that really set this cosy lunch affair apart from the other wedding lunches was the effort put in by the brothers and sisters..
The sisters all looked so sweet clad in the same floral dresses,
all in the same shade of pink, while the gentlemen had their dashing black suit on..

Photobucket

Even the march-in was well-orchestrated!
The brothers and sisters paved the way for the couple's march-in,
entering in pairs to the happy tunes of L.O.V.E,
before the couple finally emerged at the end of the line..

it's a wonder how much a tight bunch of brothers and sisters makes all the difference in the world to a simple wedding lunch!

The only pity during for the entire ceremony was that
before our 2nd set even begun, the crowd was slowly dispersing..
The bar was only left with the same enthusiastic bunch of brothers and sisters
so Euntaek and I took requests from them and sang
as some of them strut their stuff on the dancefloor!

It was truly a lovely wedding lunch experience
and Thank you Jie Ying for the wonderful day!
Congrats too to the couple for being so accommodating!

Amanda & Weiyong's Wedding @ Sentosa Resort, Grand Salon Ballroom

Hi Kewei,

Just wanna thank you for the wonderful music today. U were really
good, and pls tell junedy and the double bassist too and thank them properly for
me. Sorry I didn't get the chance to do so properly today.

Best wishes!
Amanda

It was a beautiful afternoon, and I do think lunch weddings held here enjoy the beautiful scenery of sun and sea when the curtains of the ballroom open up! :)

Amanda's father was their JP for their solemnisation, which I thought was especially meaningful :)

She was a piano teacher herself, and hence had high standards for the music at her wedding - she chose a beautiful Til There Was You at her march-in, and specially sent me a reference playlist for the kind of bossa-nova mood she loved.

Junedy on harp, and Steven on double-bass, rehearsing with a guest all the way from Hong Kong :)
He serenaded the crowd with What A Difference A Day Made, and David Tao's Ai Hen Jian Dan :)

Thanks once again for having us to be part of your beautiful day!

Thanks Alwin for this lovely picture!

Hi Kewei,

Thank you very much again for your wonderful performance on my wedding. My guests truly enjoyed it. Please send my compliments to the Quartet too; they really enliven the reception!

All the best, Boon Lin & Angela

This fairytale wedding was definitely a perfect reflection of the couple - Boon Lin looked exceptionally like Prince Charming, with his gentlemanly demeanour and his dashing charisma. He treated everyone graciously and courteously, just like a prince would!

Angela was definitely every man's dream girl - she was gorgeous, sweet and constantly wore a smile on her face.

Boon Lin had especially chosen So This Is Love from Cinderella, as their 2nd march-in song, as he put it, "my fiancee will will actually appear in a baby-blue evening gown that's very similar to Cinderella's" :)

And this beautiful gown complemented her fair complexion so well, she looked like she stepped out of a fairytale.

For the benefit of the guests who missed out on their love story, and for the band, Boon Lin described in detail the 1st time they met, how Angela "initiated" their first date, how she was the belle of the office, but he was the lucky frog prince that managed to win her heart...
it was terribly sweet, and I do wish to hear more couples sharing little anecdotes about themselves in their speeches in the future!

This couple led an international lifestyle, falling in love and dating in Japan while working, and amassing many friends all over the world where they worked.

I specially sang the timeless "Say Yes" by Chage and Aska for their Japanese colleagues (who had brought them together!) and also 家后 for Angela's family who were Taiwanese :)

You must be familiar with 江惠's version of 家后,but check out this 黄小琥version, I absolutely love the chill jazzy arrangement!!!

They were extrememly gracious in appreciating my shabby Hokkien, and very appreciative!

Photobucket

I also learnt When I'm 64 by the Beatles specially for them - a cute little ditty that I couldn't get out of my head later on!
"When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?"

The Wedding by Julie Rogers was also one of their favourites - whose Mandarin cover 花月佳期 by Anita Mui, is also frequently requested by the older folks :)

Photobucket

This wedding was special in many ways, because they specially invited a string quartet to play for their cocktail reception, and also for their 1st march in: Wedding March by Mendelssohn :)

Photobucket

Boon Lin also specially prepared a songlist for each table - to choose the top 5 most popular songs to be sung during the dinner, which we gladly obliged :) Always good to know exactly what the crowd wants to hear!

I would also like to commend Mr Cha Lee from Mandarin Oriental for his utmost patience and excellent service, not only to the couple, but for the band as well.

There were last minute changes in the sequence of events requested from the couple, I misplaced my laptop charger and had to borrow one... amidst all this last minute requests, he took them all in his stride and attended to all our needs with patience, always going out of his way to make sure we were alright.

It was an exceptionally popular day for weddings, and he had worked more than 12 hours straight by then, but he had absolutely no complaints nor grumbles, and I must say all of us were terribly impressed!

Angela and Boon Lin, may you live happily ever after!

Ken & Cynthia's Wedding @ Raffles Hotel, Casuarina Suites

Ken & Cynthia's wedding was a close-knit affair with less than 20 tables -
and the Casuarina Suite is a perfect size for this.

Decked with almost 10 chandeliers in this room, it is cosy but grand :)

They were such an easy-going couple, and much-loved by their friends and family, it was apparent that everyone present were very close to them.

They were extremely sporting with playing games - which were typical but made so entertaining by the bubbly personality of Ken and Cynthia :P

They spent almost 10 minutes trying to get a hard-boiled egg up the leg of Ken's pants and down the other, and everyone had fun laughing at the blindfolded Ken who tried to identify his wife by stroking the hands of different men.
"EH! This one surely not my wife lor! It's a man lor!"

Their speeches were punctuated by hilarious comments shouted by uncles, aunts, friends, and the atmosphere was great!

A good friend specially came up on stage and sang 但愿人长久 specially dedicated to them as well :)

The funniest anecdote that I will be able to share for years to come -
During Ken's speech, 2 little girls were playing and running around in front of the stage... He was all emotional and joyous about his sheer luck in marrying the girl of his dream, and loudly announced: "I'm such a lucky bastard!"
To which the little girl echoed loudly: LUCKY BASTARD!
and sent the room roaring with laughter!

I enjoyed myself tremendously at this wedding celebration... wishing Ken and Cynthia many more happy days in their married life!
