The band from New Asia welcomed the entourage for F1,
bringing them a fusion trio of the Chinese erhu, the Arabic gambus, and the guitar.

At the very grand Parkview Square.

Being part of F1 events, especially for Ferrari, was definitely an honour!

Victor & Jess's Wedding @ Hyatt Hotel

Photobucket
from left to right:
Jeremy on drums, Alfred on Vox, Ein on keys, Victor and Jess!, Ginny the coordinator and Daniel on guitar :D

Defy conventions where Black meets Red.

Victor and Jess customized the Hyatt Ballroom
into a whirlwind splendour of
the mystic East and modern West.

It was just the PERFECT combination.

The minute I stepped into the ballroom,
I was immediately mesmerized by the vases of Red roses
placed on every single dinner table, draped in satin black cloth.
There were even spotlight casted on every vase!

Apart from the gorgeous decors,
the night was very special for Yourstruly
because the full band was involved!

during sound-check

We were pampered with a full stage to ourselves,
it was like a mini yourstruly concert! :D
The repertoire for the night was also really exciting,
with special requests from the lovely couple
to sing whatever we like!

This gave us so much room for creativity;
we turned solo songs into duet songs - Loving you,
We also specially chose some upbeat English numbers like
Fire - Babyface and Des'ree, which was such a HOTHOT duet
that got Victor and Jess twirling while they made their rounds to take photos. :D
Alfred's qing fei de yi was so infectious
that everyone started to sing along!

The party escalated when relatives and friends of the couple
started to gather around the floor and samba,
all thanks to besame mucho!
Daniel P jived it up into mexican/samba style and
no one could stay put to their seats.

daniel fierce as lightning

The result: request after request of salsa tunes (:

I told you it was a party!

Thank you Victor and Jess for being so understanding
and trusting towards YoursTruly!
It was our honour to be invited for your big day :)
Wishing you Love, Happiness and
most importantly, pitter patter of little feets!

Charity Gala Premiere of Mamma Mia! @ Golden Village, Vivocity

Photobucket

Mamma Mia the movie premiered on Wednesday, 10 September at the GV Max theatre,
with His Excellency President S.R. Nathan gracing the event as Guest of Honor.
Philantropic Singaporeans and residents also showed up in full support of the Singapore's Children's Society and the movie,
with the 600 seater theatre full to the first 2 rows,
even though tickets for the Gala Premiere cost a pretty penny. (Between $100 and $300 if you must know!)

Photobucket

Yours Truly, with myself on vocals, Daniel P on guitar, and Jeremy on percussion, was delighted to have been selected to add some pizzaz to the occasion
and we specially tailored the night's repertoire
to comprise ABBA's famous hits
and other feet moving tunes from the same era.

These included songs of the soundtrack,
like Mamma Mia, Honey Honey, and I Have a Dream,
as well as other popular numbers like Hasta Manana (ABBA)
and Top of the World (The Carpenters).

Guests gamely tapped their feet and sang along,
as they feasted on a sumptous buffet.

The highlight of my night?

Getting to shake hands and take a photo with the President himself!

Last but not least, a HUGE thank you to Tony the events coordinator who so patiently helped with all our questions and requests.

Dawn

live music for your photographer?

while speaking online to a certain Expressively JoHo photographer,
I learnt another reason how live music at a wedding does wonders :)

PS. He said I could go ahead and quote him!

JoHo:
a good band keeps me entertained at weddings
i sing along while i shoot
ahahha
the problem with being on job is that u unwittingly detach urself becos of concentration
but the music helps to bring it back
becos weddings shot "technically" never looks right..
...... shutter speed aperture all that mumbo jumbo perfect
but..
if there's no feel
detached
then no use...

Read more about his thoughts on how wedding photography should be all the more emotional, not technical :)
