It was an absolute joy playing for Kain & Echo at their wedding celebrations. An air-conditioned tent was set up in the Groom's family home backyard under which an intimate 10 table dinner took place. The couple's closest friends flew in from around the world to be with them that evening, in addition to the Bride's family from China. In a touching speech, the Groom thanked his parents for teaching him to be kind, and then spoke of his joy to now have family on the mainland.
We pulled out our classic mandarin hits for this very special night. Together with Ein on keys and Wah Yong on double bass, Yours Truly rolled out familiar favourites like 小城故事,花好月圆,and 夜上海.
I'm so sorry that there are no photos from that evening. The couple kept it so simple that they didn't even hire a photographer! I'm sure the memories will last much longer than any photograph can.
P.S. I hear the couple might be throwing another bash specially for friends! We'll definitely get pics from that one ;)
xoxo,
Dawn

Mr Go's Birthday Celebration @ Les Amis
Feri on guitar, Ein on keys
Dawn on vocals
OMG! I can't believe I haven't posted photos from this very memorable birthday celebration of Mr. Go at Les Amis! Firstly, may I say that Mr. and Mrs. Go have kept themselves very well! I shall not divulge Mr. Go's age here, but it was definitely one of life's great milestones ;) And secondly, let's get to the party!
Big thanks to LiveStudios for the the photographs from that evening. They very kindly sifted through TONS of photos taken that evening for these wonderful shots posted here. Love the colour saturation and camera angles. Don't you think they've captured the joy of the evening very well?
Accompanying me that night were Ein Ein on keyboard and Feri on guitar. At the birthday boy's (he reminds me of Peter Pan! Always young :D) request, we played his favourite song I'm Yours (Jason Mraz) three times!
Hey, it's his birthday and he can do what he wants to :P. Besides, we certainly had fun doing that song too :).

Mr Koh's 80th Birthday @ Sheraton Towers
We were honoured to be the band for Mr Koh's grand birthday celebration -
it even involved a huge stage backdrop of 80 different 寿 characters!
We played many Mandarin oldies, such as
春风吻上我的脸, 可爱的玫瑰花, 给我一个吻, 一人一半
and also English classics like
First of May from the Beegees, Top of the World from Carpenters, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton etc :)

Mr Wong's 60th Birthday Bash @ Tien Court Restaurant, Copthorne King's Hotel
Thank you Yours Truly for providing us with such an entertaining evening with your songs and radiant smile. It was a pleasant evening indeed which was filled with songs for guests of all ages. It has certainly brightened up the mood and ambience of a traditional chinese 60th birthday dinner gathering.
Mr and Mrs Wong
Mr and Mrs Wong are a very sweet, and very hip couple.
Having a live band to make sure everyone was entertained,
they also dressed up the room with balloons screaming "Over The Hill!"
and hung strings of 60 all around -
You couldn't miss it -
Mr Wong even sported a flashing badge proclaiming It's My Birthday!
all in the name of fun of growing old, but not growing up :)
Their very diverse crowd included old friends, family and young people,
so the song list included English and Mandarin pop,
as well as a very soothing brand of oldies such as these:
El Condor Pasa by Paul Simon
Massachusetts by Bee Gees
Try To Remember by the Brothers Four
Solamente Una Vez
Happy Birthday Mr Wong!!!

Private Party @ Sentosa Cove
... continued from yesterday's post
In fact, Emily's daddy enjoyed the sing-along sessions so much
he came up to me and asked,
"Are you working tomorrow night?", to which I replied, no...
and so he continued, "would you want to work tomorrow night?"
He promptly engaged us for the next day,
for a private party at Sentosa Cove,
where he and his friends gathered for a home-cooked meal and sang the night away :)
Feri and I were delighted to take a little "tour" at their vacation homes at Sentosa Cove,
and had an equally fun night :)

Baby Shower for Emily @ Crystal Jade, Paragon
Emily turns one month old,
and his loving parents threw a lavish party for her @ Crystal Jade Paragon,
in a private section with 5 tables of 10, for friends and family :)
They even engaged a balloon artist to whip up all kinds of knick-knacks
for the guests and their children,
as well as Feri and I (guitar+vocals duo) to sing jazz for them for the night :)
We were engaged for 2 sets of 45 minutes, but the crowd shouted encore encore!
so Daddy Dear made us stay for another set of 45 minutes :)
Emily was by then fast asleep...
