Yuan Yuan & Ming Wei's Wedding Celebrations @ the Ritz Carlton

30 Jan 10
(isn't the bride so pretty?)

Dawn on Vox
Ein Ein on Keys
Wah Yong on Upright E.Bass

***

We would like to thank Dawn and the band from yourstruly and yourself for providing us for a night of incredible music. It created the mood much better then we could have imagined and many of our guests loved the music and enquired about the band. Once again kindly help us convey our thanks to Dawn and the band, we would like very much to themselves and you for the excellent performance on our wedding night!

brgds - Mingwei and Yuan = )

***

It's odd how in more than 2 years of singing at weddings, this is the first time I'm performing at the Ritz Carlton hotel! It was fun waltzing through the glass doors with waiting fans (not mine unfortunately) in matching outfits. It seems there are Korean popstars in the neighbourhood ;) (If you're going to the Korean concert on 1 or 2 Feb at the Esplanade, do look out for Wah Yong!)

Yours Truly pulled out a jazzy repertoire that truly sparkled if I may say so myself. The sound was crystal clear thanks to our professional sound guy and hired system and it made all the difference to be able to enjoy each song in all its clarity.

A dear friend of the groom, Keith, who also happens to be the principal and founder of his own music school, played and sang a special song dedication to the couple, accompanied by Wah Yong. Not only that, the emcee for the evening, William, who has incidentally done work for Yours Truly, came up on stage to do an impromptu duet with me! Yuan Yuan & Ming Wei certainly have talented friends :)

Thank you Keith for taking great care of the band. Thank you William for being such a sport. And of course thank you Yuan Yuan & Ming Wei for having us!

Hello Kewei,

First thing first, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

We actually wrote you a thank you card and realized we do not have your mailing address therefore this email.

Thank you so much for gracing our wedding celebration with Yours Truly. Our biggest thank you goes out to the entire band and yourself for the perfect performance. We received so many compliments on the band and especially yourself and thought it would be good to pass on the compliments to you.

Unfortunately, we were so busy running around places that night and didn't get a chance to listen to the songs and dedication properly, our bad. But we love your voice and we really love the 2 march-in songs, The Way You Look at Me & Everything by Michael Buble.

We've attached some photos with your band and yourself in it and you looked gorgeous.

Thank you once again and many well wishes for your singing career!!

With love,
Stephen & Jean
(30Jan2010, Amara Sanctuary Resort Hotel)

Stephen & Jean were really supportive, they came by my Esplanade showcase, and also caught my acoustic pop set at Wala Wala :)

There was a beautiful pink backdrop that they specially constructed for their stage - which I think is lovely for weddings! In fact this is only the 2nd time I've seen a full backdrop for the stage, the last time was at Jackson & Anthia's wedding :)

Photobucket
Look! Laminated photocards!
One of the first I've seen.... kudos to the detail and attention paid! :)

He had the cutest flower boy and girl to lead his 1st March In, with the song The Way You Look At Me, which I looove to sing, and also Everything by Michael Buble for his 2nd march in, which I thought was a great choice for a 2nd March In song too!

It's always nice to have a grand, romantic 1st March In and an upbeat, sassy 2nd March In song!

Photobucket

We had a fun time singing their chosen songs, and definitely the dedications -
at the end of our set we received this sweet little note!

Their wedding was a classic one that showed so much effort in planning, things that I consider a great party -
cupcakes for their wedding cake,
having instant photo prints at their wedding,
and having a live band!

Thank you Stephen and Jean for having us!
And for being sooooo appreciative! Really encouraging for us :)

Liting & Wenxing's Wedding @ Novotel Clarke Quay Phoenix Ballroom

Photobucket
Kewei & Sugie on vox
Ein on keys

Radio 1003FM deejay Ken as emcee

This wedding was a great party! :)

With Ken helming the celebrations (it was his first time hosting a wedding!), he did a fantastic job!
He even pre-recorded a segment, where he and another female deejay read out the letters that Liting and Wenxing wrote to each other!

This was especially touching, and a very sweet idea :)

Sugie, as usual, was also the life of the party, and by mid-dinner we had the support of a group of enthusiastic cousins who were singing and clapping along to all our songs!

We even launched a 劲歌金曲segment in the middle of the dinner with a string of oldies - 月亮代表我的心,甜蜜蜜, 给我一个吻and夜来香 because we had aunties and children dancing along! We couldn't bear to spoil the party, especially with the singing and dancing which rocked the party, so we carried on with more hits!

Liting and Wenxing also sang for their 1st March-in,
which was a hit with their guests, who cheered and went wild when they appeared. :)

It was great fun for us as well,
thank you for having us on your big day! :D

Standard Chartered Bank Branch Opening @ Sixth Ave

25 Jan 10
Memento courtesy of Live Photography

There's nothing better than jazz music and cocktails first thing in the morning! And that's exactly what happened today at the official opening event of Standard Chartered Bank's 6th Avenue branch. Yours Truly had Sebastian on guitar, Wah Yong on upright bass and myself on vocals for this unique event.

Big thanks going out to the marketing team of SCB, especially Melissa and Melissa! Definitely worth waking up early for ;)

Andre & Celeste's Wedding Celebrations @ Pan Pacific

24 Jan 10
Our lunch ♥

Sunday morning. Clouds were shrouding us in moments unforgettable.

Vox: Dawn & Alfred
Keys: Ein

Today's songlist comprised almost entirely Chinese songs and the crowd loved it so we loved it. That's what weddings are about isn't it? Friends & family coming together to have an enjoyable time. I do think so :)

Thank you Andre & Celeste!

Dawn

Jaron & Siew Wee's Wedding @ The Legends

23 Jan 10

Just got back from Jaron & Siew Wee's wedding at Fort Canning! 好热情的一般朋友噢!Jordan was on keys tonight, accompanying me on vocals. From start to finish, we were absolutely inundated with message slips. Particularly memorable was an especially sweet note from Siew Wee's sister that was full of sisterly love :)

Highlight of the night definitely had to be when the groom sang "Forever Love" during their second march-in. Jaron really put heaps of effort into this song, even traveling across the island yesterday to have a rehearsal with Jordan so that everything would be perfect for his new wife.

The ballroom buzzed with chatter all night as the guests clearly enjoyed themselves. Close friends gathered to share in the couple's joy, even flying in specially to be there tonight. One such friend was Kelvin who came in from Taipei - thanks for helping us with the photo ;)

Cargill D&D @ The Arts House

We were part of a very interesting D&D experience at The Arts House,
where performances were happening in each room!

There was a buffet reception held in the glass-walled Gallery,
Kumar's stand-up comedy act in the Chamber,
Leon's pop act at the Playden,
and Kewei & Einein at The Living Room!

Photobucket

We absolutely adore the quaintly colonial texture of the Old Parliament House,
especially with a grand piano, surrounded by comfy sofas :)

Check out The Arts House if you're looking for a unique venue for your ROM!

George & Iris's Wedding @ Crowne Plaza, T3

Photobucket

This was a beautiful wedding, lovingly orchestrated by the lovely team at Wedding Conceirge once again!

With the Enchanted Forest theme, the design of the trees at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom was perfect, with light lilting harp music especially!

Photobucket
We were nestled in a little pavilion on stage - a pretty centrepiece for the wedding.

Iris specially designed these cards, to be brought home as photoframes for her guests

Comment from Iris, taken off facebook:
We did not expect her to be Caucasian, but thought that she blended perfectly into the theme. Guests thought we brought a Caucasian Harpist in specially for the Wedding! Praise the Lord! We love Harp Music, as it reminds us of God's Love. :D

Since George was Lebanese, she had a huge party of close friends and family from Lebanon,
and these cards were left on each table to exchange foodie tips,
and she even had little jars of kaya for the guests to bring home!

The party ended with a roaring party of Lebanese music and dancing, it was a perfect celebration of a union between 2 countries, right at our airport hotel!

Thank you for having us, George and Iris! :)

Wedding @ the Equinox

wedding,the Equinox
photo by KC Wong of Grey Matter

From the Bride...
"Dear Kewei,

Hope you're well.
We should have sent this sooner!
Wanted to say a big "Thank You". Our guests loved the performance and so did (my husband) and I.
Dawn and Matthew certainly did a great job to make the evening a very memorable one!"

***

Something about the cityscape never fails to put a sparkle in my eye. Way above the sea of lights, the hustle of a Friday night in Singapore is muted by the clear glass walls on the 70th floor at the Equinox. The world twinkled at our feet as our couple celebrated their wedding day with their closest friends and family. How’s that for romantic!

The order for the night was a 2 pc combi featuring Matthew on keys and myself on vocals. For the couple’s march-in, Matthew arranged a medley of the Wedding March and Canon in D by special request. We then proceeded to play an even mix of popular English and Mandarin love songs to set the mood.

In between our sets, Matthew and I soaked up the peaceful scene in the adjacent dining area. I can only imagine how amazing it must have been for our lovely couple! Thank you for the pleasure of bringing joy to your guests on your special day :)

George & Kate's Wedding Celebrations @ Pan Pacific

3JAN10

George & Kate had their wedding celebrations at the Pan Pacific Hotel in a cavernous ballroom to accommodate all their friends and relatives, including Kate's family who'd flown in from Hong Kong just to be with them on this special day. The thoughtful couple specifically requested for us to prepare a cantonese song for their HK relatives, a request to which we most willingly obliged.

This special song is Leslie Cheung's 今生今世, OST that famous Anita Mui movie, "She's a Man, He's a Woman". Tonight was the first time I've performed this song in public so I really want to share it with all of you. The video setting was a bit wonky so please so forgive the blurry images.

This song was done to rousing applause and appreciation from the crowd :) So if you're having guests fly in for your wedding and you'd like us to prepare a song or 2 in a foreign language, do speak with us to see what we can do!

Hi Kewei & Team,

Despite a little hiccups in the coordination process prior to the wedding, we still retain Yours Truly as our choice for our wedding day band and we have not regretted on our decision.

Thank you so much for giving the guests such a wonderful performance. Alot of them were mesmermised by it. It really make our wedding a meaningful one for the guests.

Wishing you all a wonderful career in the music industry!

Thanks & Regards,
Stephen & Cuiwei

We were ushered to our band area - decorated with helium balloons!
Complete with Precious Moments Just Married balloons, a first for us! :)

Stephen was very meticulous in planning his wedding, and prepared a songlist of duets for Leon and I - to be sung in sequence!

That was a first for us, and we did not take dedications for the night, but the guests still enjoyed the night thoroughly :)

Thanks once again for having us! :)

Den & Jo's good friend Kelvin took great care of us - and we had a great dinner courtesy of the couple and Marriott Hotel - a great start for the New Year! :)

Kelvin and I kicked off the segment with 你最珍贵 dedicated to his bro Dennis, and he is darn good!

And this is the most hilarious dedication I've ever seen!

It was such a fun wedding for us, thanks for letting us be part of your wedding on New Year's Day!

Cheers,
