Ken & Yen's Solemnisation @ Goodwood Park Hotel, Poolside Terrace

Hi Yours Truly,

Thanks for dropping by on Sat! The party was excellent and without Alfred and Ein Ein, it wouldn’t have the same emotions and ambience!!

When I read your blog, I kept coming across couples saying stuff like, "All my guests think the band was great...", etc. Now, I fully understand what they meant by that. Because when Yen and I did our rounds around the tables to thank our guests, almost everyone asked us, "Where did the band come from?", "Are they your friends?", "I love their voices!", "They are great!!", etc. Everyone was full of praises, and my mum, especially, loved Alfred's singing in Cantonese! He really did a great rendition of "Breathless" for our march-in, which we all thought is a very very difficult song to sing!

Thanks for the great attitude, the great voices and the lovely performance. They were flexible and quick to react to the constant changes we have in the programmes. We could never thank them enough for mesmerizing everyone at the party. And please let Ein Ein know, she has added a few more fans to her base! I am definitely one of them! Love her fabulous playing!

From the bottom of our hearts,
THANK YOU!

The band featured Alfred on vocals, and Ein Ein on keys :)
One of the first times Yours Truly featured a solo male voice!

Thoughts from Ein Ein:

‘Ken is super nice!’ - I received this email from kewei with Ken’s feedback attached. Indeed, thank you for being so nice and appreciative! ^__^

This was one of the gig that I feared the most, because besides playing the keyboard Ken requested me to sing a few songs including duets with Alfred. Singing is not my expertise though I love to sing. So, I’m nervous but very grateful and excited for this rare chance to sing!

Alfred was also nervous because he’s going to sing a special dedication from Yen & Ken to their parents with his not-very-confident Cantonese pronunciation in front of many guests from Hong Kong! It’s not hard to imagine his stress especially when I saw him mumbling to the printed lyrics which was full of markings of his handwritings.

Not only 2 of us were nervous, Ken came to us for help. He got a surprise for Yen, to sing her a love song during the 2nd set of our performance. He looked not as nervous after a few times of practice with the music. But he’s still not sure with keeping the beats. We encouraged him to sing freely in his pace and reassured that the music will follow him if he lost the beats.

The solemnization ceremony started with the march in song “Breathless”, accompanied by the rounds of applause and cheers by the guests as the lovely couple walked in. The beautiful setting sun shone on their face, they made their vows and exchanged rings. The pretty garden setting made everything just so right and perfect!

Soon, the dinner started and we began our performance. Alfred sang his best to impress the guest before the Cantonese dedication song sell him out. :-P And I had no mood making fun of him at all as my throat suddenly became very uncomfortable due to unknown reason right before my turn to sing! Luckily we both made it! Yen passed the mic to her dad to sing along with Alfred the Cantonese song 真的爱你 by beyond. Everyone was enjoying the moment and many were singing along. Thanks to the guests for your generous applause!

The highlight of the party is when Ken made his speech and presented his special surprise一生爱你一个 by 郑伊健 for Yen with full of emotion. We all felt and touched by the love and sincerity through his warm voice. It’s was so nicely done (and with no more mistake of keeping beats :-P) excellent! :-D

It was the moment when we walked past the slow-dancing couple... How sweet and lovely!
